A Dax Moy Principle
Build The Business That Delivers The Life.
Your business should be designed around the life you actually want to live. Not the other way around.
What It Means
Most people build their business from the outside in.
They find a model.
Choose an offer.
Learn a marketing strategy.
Attract whoever responds.
Add more clients.
Add more systems.
Add more people.
Add more complexity.
Then somewhere down the line they look at the thing they’ve built and realise...
...they don’t particularly want to live inside it.
I prefer to build from the opposite direction.
DREAM LIFE
requires a
DREAM BUSINESS
which requires
DREAM CLIENTS
who are attracted to
DREAM OFFERS
which are born from your
DREAM SELF-IMAGE
Start with the life.
What do you actually want your days to feel like?
How many hours do you want to work?
Where do you want to work from?
Who do you want around you?
What kind of work do you want to spend your energy on?
How much money does that life require?
How much complexity are you willing to tolerate to create it?
THEN ask what kind of business could deliver that.
THEN ask what kind of clients make that business possible.
THEN ask what kind of offers those clients genuinely want and need.
THEN ask who you need to become willing to be in order to build the whole thing honestly.
This doesn’t mean you can have absolutely everything with no trade-offs.
Of course not.
Every choice closes other choices.
But there’s a world of difference between consciously choosing a trade-off...
...and waking up inside one you never realised you were making.
Your business is one of the biggest pieces of architecture in your life.
It affects your time.
Your money.
Your energy.
Your relationships.
Your health.
Your freedom.
So I don’t think the question is simply:
“How do I build a successful business?”
The better question is:
“What kind of successful business would make the life I want MORE possible?”
