A Dax Moy Principle
Don’t Seek Balance.
Seek Integration.
The important parts of your life shouldn’t have to take turns existing.
What It Means
Balance often assumes competition.
Business versus family.
Money versus freedom.
Ambition versus peace.
Achievement versus health.
Work versus play.
As though the best we can hope for is to stop any one area of life from completely mugging the others in a dark alley.
I’m more interested in integration.
Can the business support the life?
Can success increase freedom rather than consume it?
Can ambition coexist with presence?
Can financial success support fun, fulfilment and relationships rather than arrive at their expense?
Can the things that matter most to you work together instead of constantly fighting over the same scraps of time, energy and attention?
Integration doesn’t mean everything gets equal time.
It doesn’t mean every part of life receives exactly 20% of the diary while you sit there admiring the mathematical neatness of it all.
Different seasons ask for different things.
Sometimes work needs more.
Sometimes family does.
Sometimes your body does.
Sometimes you do.
The question isn’t whether everything is equal.
The question is whether everything belongs.
Whether the different parts of your life can exist inside the same design without one of them repeatedly being sacrificed to make another one look successful.
I’m not trying to perfectly balance my life.
I’m trying to build one life where the important parts fit together.
